About

Forces Sub Aqua Club (FSAC), originated as the Army Headquarters Sub Aqua Club in July of 1959.It later became the Canadian Forces Headquarters (CFHQ) Sub Aqua Club, and eventually evolved into the NDHQ Sub Aqua Club. It later was renamed once again to Forces Ottawa Sub AquaClub.

In 1960, three club members became Ontario Underwater Council (OUC) certified Instructors and in 1961 one member became the fifth Canadian to certify as an Instructor with NAUI. Other members have earned an Instructor rating with PADI, ACUC, IANTD, YMCA, BSAC and CMAS.

During the last decade, with the closure of CFB Uplands (Ottawa South) the Aquaducks Scuba Club merged with the Forces Sub Aqua Club to form one larger and more active club. The club now boasts membership, which includes a PADI Course Director, NAUI ITC Instructors, ACUC Instructors, IANTD Instructors, CMAS Instructors and former Executive Members of the OUC.

From its early beginning, the FSAC has actively promoted and taught safe skin and scuba diving. The club has actively participated in environmental clean- ups; underwater archeology projects; and lead the way to road reconstruction at the roadway to the Conestoga shipwreck.
